Rangers boss Philippe Clement identified Liverpool defender Owen Beck as someone who could come in on loan and make an immediate impact, according to the Athletic.

Beck has been recalled by Liverpool after shining during a loan stint at Scottish Premiership side Dundee over the first half of the season.

The defender is expected to stay at Anfield and compete for the left-back slot, amid Liverpool having injuries to Kostas Tsimikas and Andrew Robertson.

However, Beck would have had no shortage of options if he did want to head out on another loan spell and Rangers were amongst them.

It is claimed that Gers boss Clement identified Beck as a loan target who could come in at Ibrox and play a substantial role immediately, after feedback received from the club’s 5-0 win at Dens Park.

That move will not be happening, but could have appealed to Beck given that Rangers are in a title race with Celtic and also still in the Europa League.

Rangers have worries over their left-back options.

Borna Barisic has missed a number of games this season, while his understudy Ridvan Yilmaz has struggled to impress.

It remains to be seen if Rangers revisit Beck as an option in the summer.
