Southampton are interested in signing their former striker Danny Ings, but the West Ham man does not want to drop down to the Championship, according to The Athletic.

Ings has been a bit part player at West Ham this season and has started just one Premier League game for David Moyes.

He has dropped down the pecking order of forwards at the London Stadium and is yet to score a goal in the ongoing campaign.

The Hammers are believed to be open to offers for him this month and there are clubs interested in signing him.

It has been claimed that Southampton are keen to take him to St. Mary’s Stadium in the ongoing transfer window.

Ings scored 46 times in 100 appearances during his previous stint at Southampton but he is unlikely to return to the south coast of England.

Ings is not interested in moving back to Southampton as he does not want to drop down to the Championship.

He wants to play in the Premier League and Wolves are interested in signing him on loan from West Ham.
