Leeds United are keen on Rangers defender Borna Barisic, but the Gers would like the Croatian to pen a new contract, according to Football Scotland.
Barisic is Rangers’ first choice option in the left-back department, however he is approaching the end of his contract at Ibrox.
The Gers are actively looking to sign another left-back during this month’s transfer window, amid question marks over Ridvan Yilmaz, who could move to Italy with Hellas Verona.
Championship heavyweights Leeds want to sign Barisic, with the Whites having their own left-back issues to address.
A move to Elland Road could be an appealing one for Barisic, especially with Leeds putting in a strong promotion tilt under Daniel Farke.
Rangers though are not giving up on keeping Barisic and want him to stay.
The Scottish Premiership side have asked Barisic if he would be prepared to put pen to paper to extend his time at Ibrox.
The ball is now in Barisic’s court and if he rejects Rangers’ overtures then the Gers could feel cashing in on him this month is the best course of action, something which would likely put Leeds on red alert.
