Boca Juniors winger Lucas Langoni is a player Rangers could have signed last summer but they instead splashed the cash on two other players, according to Football Scotland.
Langoni is considered a bright prospect and is drawing interest from clubs in both France and Spain.
Rangers have again been linked with the Argentine wide man during this month’s window, as Philippe Clement looks to bolster his squad.
However, last summer Rangers were told that it would cost £10m to take Langoni from Boca Juniors and instead signed Cyriel Dessers and Danilo.
The Gers decided that snapping up Dessers and Danilo made more sense than signing Langoni.
Unless Rangers decide to make more funds available to Clement, signing the 21-year-old attacker this month looks unlikely.
Langoni has scored ten goals in 45 outings for Boca Juniors and missed a substantial period earlier this year due to injury.
He progressed through the youth set-up at Boca Juniors and made his debut for the Argentine giants in 2022.
