Bolton Wanderers have pulled ahead of Barnsley in the race for Niall Ennis and should snap up the attacker soon, according to journalist Alan Nixon.

Ennis joined Blackburn Rovers from Plymouth Argyle last summer on a free transfer but he has struggled to make his mark at Ewood Park.

He is yet to score in the Championship this season and Blackburn are open to offers to let him go in the ongoing window.

Ennis scored 12 times in League One last season and has several suitors in the third tier of English football.

It is Bolton though who are in pole position and they are closing in on signing him on loan.

And it has been claimed that a loan move to Bolton is set to be concluded soon.

Bolton have pulled ahead of League One rivals Barnsley for Ennis and want him to help fire them up to the Championship.

Ennis will be looking to make sure he is playing regular first team football at Bolton.
