Southampton have made an approach for Burnley winger Manuel Benson, who is also interesting Leeds United, according to journalist Mark McAdam.
Benson was a key man in Burnley’s successful promotion campaign in the Championship last season, but has found game time limited in the Premier League.
It has been claimed the winger will be on the move before the window closes this month and he does have suitors.
Now Southampton have made an approach to Burnley about signing Benson.
Saints boss Russell Martin thinks that Benson fits the bill as he searches for a winger to aid his club’s push for automatic promotion.
They could face competition from promotion rivals Leeds though as they are also keen on Benson.
Daniel Farke is an admirer of the Burnley man and is interested in taking him to Elland Road.
Benson, 26, has made just four appearances in the Premier League for Burnley so far this season.
