Hearts are set to invite Lys Mousset to Edinburgh to hold talks and check on his fitness, according to journalist Alan Nixon.

They are in the market searching for a striker as they prepare potentially for life without Lawrence Shankland, who is a target for Celtic.

Mousset is one player they have identified and Hearts are interested.

Mousset is currently a free agent after seeing his contract with German club VfL Bochum being terminated by mutual consent at the start of this month.

Hearts are set to invite the French forward to Scotland for talks.

The striker will be looked at closely in order to check out the condition of his fitness.

Mousset has an extensive career to boast of having featured in 99 English top-flight games with Bournemouth and Sheffield United.

It remains to be seen whether the Hearts medical staff are satisfied with his fitness conditions before offering him a contract.
