Norwich City are closing in on a deal to sign Celtic scouted striker Sydney van Hooijdonk ahead of Thursday’s transfer deadline.
Norwich have managed to shake off a poor start to the season to consolidate their position in the race for a playoff spot
They are sitting just two points behind sixth-placed Coventry City in the Championship standings and David Wagner is pushing to reinforce his squad to boost their chances of promotion.
The Norwich boss has been keen to bring attacking options into his squad and the club are closing in on a solution in the shape of Van Hooijdonk, who has also been on Celtic’s transfer radar this month.
According to Italian broadcaster Sky Italia, Norwich are on the cusp of signing Van Hooijdonk from Bologna in the coming days.
The two clubs are in advanced negotiations over the Dutchman potentially joining Norwich on loan.
The Canaries will also retain an option to buy the forward at the end of the season from Bologna.
The forward has been a bit part player at Bologna this season but Wagner believes he could turn out to be a good attacking addition for his promotion-chasing squad.
