West Brom will not be signing Aston Villa defender Calum Chambers on transfer deadline day, according to The Star.

Chambers has 18 months left on his contract at Aston Villa but the defender is not part of Unai Emery’s plans.

He has not featured in the Premier League this season and Villa are hoping to move him on before the transfer window closes tonight.

Chambers has suitors in the Championship and West Brom were in talks to sign the centre-back earlier in the day.

However, it has been claimed that the defender will not be joining the Baggies in the final hours of the winter transfer window.

The 29-year-old centre-back was in conversations with West Brom but a deal is not going to happen in the coming hours.

West Brom were only interested in signing Chambers on a simple loan deal but Villa are insistent on selling him.

The Baggies do not want to commit to signing the centre-back on a permanent deal and decided against continuing their pursuit.
