St. Mirren and Kilmarnock have both reached an agreement over a loan deal with Groningen for Kevin van Veen, with the player now expected to make a decision.

Van Veen scored 29 times last season for Motherwell before moving to the Netherlands with Groningen last summer.

The striker has struggled at Groningen and has been linked with a sensational return to Scotland on deadline day today.

The forward is keen on moving back to Scotland and St. Mirren and Kilmarnock have been chasing his signature in the ongoing winter transfer window.

According to Dutch broadcaster RTV Noord, two Scottish clubs now have a deal in place with Groningen for the signature of the forward on a loan deal until the end of the season.

With both clubs having agreements in place, the ball is now in Van Veen’s court as he assesses his options in the final hours of the window.

St. Mirren have been pushing hard to convince the striker but the Dutchman also has the option of joining Kilmarnock.

Van Veen was an immense success in Scotland previously and is now preparing for a second stint in the country with either St. Mirren or Kilmarnock.

Motherwell have also been linked with Van Veen, but have no deal in place.
