Aston Villa manager Unai Emery was keen on adding Torino winger Raoul Bellanova to his ranks in January but the Villans pulled out of the race after learning about the Italian club’s asking price.

The Villans were one of the few Premier League sides to have shown some activity in the January transfer market.

They eventually managed to bring in winger Morgan Rogers from Middlesbrough but had their eyes on others as well.

Torino’s 23-year-old winger Bellanova became a key transfer target for Emery’s team, with the Villans even going on to ask for information on the player.

However, according to Italian outlet Tutto Mercato, Torino president Urbano Cairo decided to play hardball, with a view of keeping hold of Bellanova.

The Italian club put in a price tag of over €20m on the services of the player, an amount that was deemed too high by the Premier League side.

It now remains to be seen though whether Aston Villa decide to return with their interest yet again when the transfer window opens in the summer.

Bellanova has featured in 21 Serie A matches for Torino so far this season, setting up three goals from the wing.
