FC Twente technical director Arnold Bruggink has admitted that he would like to sign Burnley star Wout Weghorst in the future, but a move for the forward will depend on the situation in the summer.

The 31-year-old Burnley star joined Hoffenheim on loan in the summer and has scored five goals for the German outfit in 16 games so far.

Weghorst has one and a half years left on his Burnley contract and he has admitted that he wants to finish his career with FC Twente, who he supported growing up.

Bruggink indicated that the Dutch outfit are aware of Weghorst’s desire and admitted that he is open to the idea of bringing the player to FC Twente in the summer.

However, he stressed that Weghorst still has a contract with Burnley until June 2025 and he stated that everything will depend on the situation in the summer.

When asked whether FC Twente are interested in signing Weghorst in the summer, Bruggink told Dutch magazine Voetbal International: “You also think about the future.

“If someone expresses himself so clearly about where his heart lies, we will be crazy not to keep that contact.

“He still has a one-year contract at Burnley.

“It depends on how the situation is in the summer, for him and for us. But I would like it.

“That is clear.”

The Burnley star has been a regular starter for Hoffenheim this season and he will be looking to finish the campaign in good form before heading back to Turf Moor.
