Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag cannot wait to coach Tottenham Hotspur target Teun Koopmeiners, it has been claimed in Italy.
Italian Serie A side Atalanta brought in the 25-year-old defensive midfielder from AZ Alkmaar in the summer of 2021.
Koopmeiners’ performances for the Italian outfit have attracted attention and Atalanta are expected to come under pressure to sell him when the summer transfer window opens.
Juventus are hoping to be able to keep him in Italy, while Tottenham are keen on bringing the midfielder to the Premier League.
However, according to Italian daily Tuttosport (via Tutto Mercato), Manchester United boss Ten Hag is hugely interested in Koopmeiners.
It is claimed that Ten Hag cannot wait to coach his countryman.
Ten Hag is convinced of Koopmeiners’ qualities and is keen to make sure he ends up at Old Trafford in the summer.
It is suggested that Atalanta are hoping given the clubs interested in the midfielder that an auction can be triggered in the summer.
They currently have the Dutchman under contract until the summer of 2027.
Tottenham and Manchester United have both done business with Atalanta in recent years, with Cristian Romero and Rasmus Hojlund, respectively, moving from the Italian side.
