Everton assistant manager Ian Woan has conceded that it is difficult to understand the demands at Goodison Park and the club’s fans from the outside.
Sean Dyche took charge of Everton last year and helped the Toffees to survive in the Premier League by the skin of their teeth.
Woan joined Everton alongside the manager and he already has a history with the club where he was part of their academy as a player.
The Everton assistant boss admitted that the staff have had an incredible year since joining the club and thinks there is still so much more to do.
He stressed that the Toffees are a world apart from what he saw at Burnley alongside Dyche and insisted that the demands of the fans are at a completely different level, which is difficult to understand from the outside.
“We know there’s still a lot of work to go, but it’s been an incredible year just as an education for us — and for me — working in this environment at a club you love”, Woan told The Athletic.
“Being so intertwined in everything Everton brings… Everton is Burnley on steroids.
“You know about the size of the club as a fan, but when you’re actually in it, it’s just a completely different ball game.
“You see the demand from the fans and the global club it is.”
A ten-point penalty from the Premier League for breaking financial rules means Everton are sitting 18th in the league table on 19 points.
