Plymouth Argyle boss Ian Foster has dubbed Tottenham Hotspur loan star Alfie Devine a ‘lovely footballer’ and feels he is now showing his skills.

The Championship side swooped to snap up Devine from Tottenham on loan until the end of the season in the January transfer window.

Spurs are keen to see Devine playing on a regular basis at Home Park and kicking on with his development under former England youth coach Foster.

The Plymouth boss is full of praise for Devine, who he thinks has an excellent tactical brain which helps him understand the instructions given to him in the role he has been assigned.

Foster also believes Devine is a lovely footballer and is now showing what he is capable of in a Plymouth shirt.

“Alfie’s performances have been very good, with and without the ball”, Foster was quoted as saying by Plymouth Live.

“He has got a really good tactical brain, a really clear understanding of what we are asking him to do and how to do it, and he applies himself brilliantly.

“It’s getting used to each other and people will really start to understand his qualities, how he can receive the ball in between the lines on the half turn and be positive”, Foster continued, with Devine being used in the number 10 role by Argyle.

“He’s a lovely footballer. I have worked an awful lot with Alfie, I know what he’s capable of and we are starting to see it now.”

Devine clocked the full 90 minutes in Plymouth’s 2-0 home loss against Leeds United in the Championship on Saturday.
