Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur midfield target Frenkie de Jong is neither interested in signing a new deal nor does he want to leave Barcelona in the summer transfer window.

The De Jong saga is back close to two years after he refused to leave Barcelona even when Manchester United had an agreement to sign him.

The five-year contract he signed with Barcelona in 2021 currently makes him the highest-paid player at the Nou Camp and the club want to reduce his salary.

They have offered him a new deal on reduced terms and are prepared to sell him if he does not sign a new contract.

However, according to the Catalan daily Sport, De Jong’s stance has not changed since the summer of 2022.

He is not interested in signing a new deal with Barcelona and wants the club to honour the current contract he has with them.

The Dutch midfielder has also closed the door on an exit from the Nou Camp in the summer transfer window.

Manchester United have a long-standing interest in him and Tottenham are said to have tabled a €60m bid for him.

However, for now, De Jong is not even considering leaving Barcelona despite the club’s discontent around his contract.

Whether Tottenham or Manchester United can change his mind remains to be seen.
