Athletic Bilbao will try and hold on to Aston Villa and Tottenham Hotspur target Nico Williams beyond the upcoming summer transfer window.

The 21-year-old winger’s future has come under the scanner ahead of the end of the season due to interest from the Premier League.

Arsenal and Chelsea are amongst the clubs who are interested in snaring him away from Bilbao in the next window.

Aston Villa and Tottenham also hold an interest in the Spanish winger and are likely to get into the mix for him in the summer.

However, according to Spanish daily Estadio Deportivo, Bilbao are still harbouring the idea of keeping him at the San Mames next season.

The Basque club are not keen to lose him and will push to convince him to stay on at Bilbao beyond the next transfer window.

He recently signed a new contract until 2027 but it also contains a reasonable €55m release clause.

The figure is not big enough to scare away his Premier League suitors who will have cash to burn in the summer transfer window.
