Dutch managerial legend Dick Advocaat has told Ajax that getting Erik ten Hag back would be their best move.

Ajax have had a hugely disappointing season in the Eredivisie this term and are on the lookout for a new boss; they recently held talks with Graham Potter.

Under pressure Manchester United boss Ten Hag has been mooted as a possible contender to return to his former club and improve the situation next season.

Advocaat believes that Ten Hag is the right answer for Ajax and would have the advantage of knowing the group of players he would be working with.

The Dutchman said on Veronica Offside: “Ten Hag has done excellently in the Netherlands, both at Ajax and at Utrecht. So why not?

“I think this would be the best choice.

“He knows the group of players, knows what he wants, is a clear-cut coach.”

It is unclear if Manchester United will part ways with Ten Hag after the end of the season, with no official word coming from the Red Devils about his position.
