Aston Villa are in talks to convince Ross Barkley to move to the Midlands, but the midfielder is waiting for an offer to materialise from Manchester United, according to journalist Alan Nixon.

Barkley was one of the bright sparks for Luton Town this season despite their relegation from the Premier League.

He is keen to stay in the Premier League and Aston Villa are pushing hard to convince him to move to the Midlands this summer.

They are in talks with the midfielder and have made their pitch to try and sign Barkley in the next transfer window.

Barkley is tempted at the prospect of being at Aston Villa but he is waiting for an offer from Manchester United as well.

The Red Devils have shown an interest in the player but are yet to make a concrete bid for him.

Barkley is keen to wait and see whether an offer from the Old Trafford outfit materialises in the coming weeks and months.

He previously played for Sir Jim Ratcliffe-owned Nice in France and is believed to be close to the English billionaire

The midfielder will only make a decision over his future following taking a break with his family this summer.
