Serie A giants AC Milan’s pursuit of Manchester United target Youssouf Fofana has stalled and the club are now considering alternatives.

The Rossoneri thought that they were making good progress in talks to sign the Frenchman and have even agreed personal terms with the Monaco midfielder.

However, the dynamics have changed since Manchester United pushed themselves into the race by slapping in an enquiry for him.

AC Milan were hoping to do a deal for somewhere around €25m but Monaco are now demanding a fee of around €35m.

According to Italian sports daily Tuttosport, AC Milan’s pursuit of the midfielder has slowed down.

The Rossoneri do not want to get into a bidding war over Fofana and are not keen to pay Monaco’s revised asking price.

With the move for the Frenchman stalling, AC Milan are now considering alternative targets in the market.

Palmeiras’ Richard Rios and Fiorentina’s Sofyan Amrabat are two clubs the Serie A giants are keeping tabs on as alternatives to Fofana.
