FC Twente technical director Arnold Bruggink believes that the Tukkers doing so well last season left them at risk of losing Robin Propper, who has joined Rangers.

Centre-back and club captain Propper has completed a move to Scottish giants Rangers, who turned to him to replace Connor Goldson.

Losing Propper is a big blow for Twente, but it is one that Bruggink is not hugely surprised at.

He feels that Twente finishing third in the Eredivisie last season meant that clubs were always bound to take a look at their players closely and losing Propper was possible.

Bruggink told Dutch daily TC/Tubantia: “This can happen when you finish third, that you can lose someone.

“It’s not always fun, but it’s part of it.”

Propper, in through the door at Rangers, could make his Gers debut this weekend when a clash against Hearts is on the agenda to open the Scottish Premiership season.

He is a big signing for Gers boss Philippe Clement, who will hope to see him quickly flourish in Scottish football.
