Sunderland have sent a bid to Belgian side Gent for striker Ahmed Adbullahi as they bid to land an attacker before the window closes, according to Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano.
The Black Cats have been in the market to try to strengthen their final third options this month, but recently saw a move for Caen striker Alexandre Mendy go nowhere.
They have continued to work and have now made a push to land a 20-year-old striker in Belgium who they see as having big potential.
Sunderland have ‘sent a bid’ over to Belgian top flight side Gent for Abdullahi.
It is unclear what the bid level is and whether Gent will consider it to be acceptable, with timing running out in the window, but talks are ongoing.
He played for Gent’s youth side last season and scored an impressive 21 times in just 28 outings.
At senior level, Abdullahi has made just two appearances for Gent, but his exploits for the Jong Gent team have raised expectations.
If Gent wanted to sign a replacement before selling then they would have time to do so as the window in Belgium is open until 6th September.
