Leeds United legend Eddie Gray is expecting Liverpool and Newcastle United target Harry Gray to follow in the footsteps of his brother Archie Gray.

The Whites suffered a loss that was difficult to stomach in the summer transfer window when Archie was told to Tottenham Hotspur, with meeting financial rules a key consideration.

A fee of £40m was banked for the midfielder, but it was cold comfort for Leeds fans, who had hoped to see the team built around Archie in the coming years.

Now Archie’s brother Harry, who is in Leeds’ youth ranks, is attracting attention with Liverpool and Newcastle just two of the clubs keen on the hugely promising forward.

Gray, 15, has been turning heads with his performances in the Under-18s Premier League and Leeds legend Eddie thinks he will follow in Archie’s footsteps barring any unexpected accidents.

“Harry’s talented”, Eddie told Sky Sports.

He later added: “Barring accidents, Harry will follow in the same footsteps as Archie.”

Leeds will want to keep hold of Harry for as long as possible, but their ability to do so many depend on large part on whether they can get themselves back up to the Premier League quickly.

How quickly Leeds might fast-track Harry into the team remains to be seen, but Archie was a regular last term when he was just 17.
