Despite having lost David Moyes as manager, Everton are embarking upon their summer recruitment push, with the Toffees having contacted Ajax over in-demand midfielder Christian Eriksen, according to Voetbal International.

Eriksen is at the centre of a transfer battle at present, with Borussia Dortmund and Liverpool leading the chase for the Denmark international.

The 21-year-old’s contract with Ajax expires in 2014 and he has resisted putting pen to paper on a new one; coach Frank de Boer accepts that the likelihood is that Eriksen will leave the Amsterdam ArenA.

However, it is not yet clear where the creative schemer will head.

Dortmund see Eriksen as a replacement for Bayern Munich-bound Mario Gotze, and the German side’s coach Jurgen Klopp has been in touch with De Boer directly to register his interest.

Liverpool meanwhile have consistently scouted Eriksen throughout the campaign, but will be unable to offer the talent European football next season, unlike Dortmund.

Everton though have registered their interest too, although it would be something of a surprise if Eriksen moved to Goodison Park.
