Nicklas Bendtner's decision to stay at Arsenal for the remainder of this season makes sense for Denmark coach Morten Olsen, though the veteran tactician has warned the striker he must plan a summer departure if he cannot play regularly before the end of the campaign.

The Gunners were expected to sign a new striker during the course of the January transfer window, with Bendtner tipped to head for the exit door.

But despite fierce speculation, no striker arrived at the Emirates Stadium and as a consequence, Bendtner stayed put; something which makes sense for Olsen.

"It's actually very sensible that he stayed", Olsen told Jyllands-Posten.

"He gets some playing time and the coach has not picked up new players.

"But the next transfer window is incredibly important for him.

"If he fails to break through at Arsenal in the spring season, he must find a new club this summer."

Olsen is counting on Bendtner to have regular first team football under his belt ahead of Denmark's campaign to qualify for Euro 2016. The Scandinavian country missed out on a spot at this summer's World Cup.
