Gervinho has slammed Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger, claiming the Frenchman never gave him any confidence.

The Ivory Coast forward swapped Arsenal for Roma in last summer, joining up with his old coach at Lille, Rudi Garcia.

Gervinho is playing regularly in Italy, 17 Serie A appearances so far, something which was not the case under Wenger at the Emirates Stadium.

And he is scoring goals and providing assists too, with five goals and seven assists in Serie A.

Roma are delighted with their capture and Gervinho is pleased to be at the club, feeling Garcia is a coach far more up his street than Wenger.

"The fundamental difference between Roma and Arsenal is the coaching", he explained to Sports Illustrated.

"My coach here gives me confidence, because I know he believes in me.

"When I wake up in the morning, I like coming to work, I look forward to being with these people."
