Bayern Munich have suffered a blow ahead of the first leg of their Champions League Round of 16 clash with Arsenal, as Franck Ribery has been ruled out through injury.

The France international winger had an operation on 6th February to repair a burst blood vessel in his buttock.

Bayern Munich have confirmed that Ribery will return to training next week, but he will not feature against Arsenal on 19th February at the Emirates Stadium.

However, the winger will hope to play in the second leg at the Allianz Arena on 11th March.

Ribery had been in fine form for Pep Guardiola's men this term.

The 30-year-old has clocked up 14 Bundesliga appearances, scoring seven goals and providing ten assists for his team-mates.

In the Champions League he has scored three goals in five games.
