Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger believes that David Moyes needs to be given more time as manager to turn things around at Manchester United.

Moyes took over from one of the club's most successful manager, Sir Alex Ferguson, who had won 13 Premier League titles in 27 years. However, the 50-year-old has struggled to emulate the Scot, with the Red Devils currently languishing seventh in the league.

"When a person has been at a club for such a long time, it's always a void created when he goes", Wenger was quoted as saying by the BBC.

"But I believe Moyes, if given time, will do that perfectly."

The 64-year-old has himself been at the centre of various such pressure situations during his 18-year stint at Arsenal and strongly believes that Moyes is the right man to steer the ship for the Premier League holders.

"You need time and patience", Wenger added.

"You need to be in a strong club. [Moyes] is in a strong club and I think he will be given time to do it."

Arsenal are scheduled to face Manchester United at the Emirates Stadium on Wednesday with a 14-point gap between the two sides and the Old Trafford club nine points away from a Champions League qualification spot.
