Arsenal’s Santi Cazorla has explained that he is confident about his team-mate and fellow midfielder Mesut Ozil returning to his best form soon.

The Germany international enjoyed a great start to his Gunners career upon joining Arsene Wenger’s side on a club-record fee from Real Madrid during the summer transfer window.

However, the 25-year-old has received criticism from some corners due to his lacklustre performances in recent games.

And Cazorla, who believes having no winter break in England is not the reason behind Ozil’s dip in form, insists that every player’s form is bound to drop at some point in a season.

The Spaniard further added that Ozil is a key member of Arsenal’s squad and urged his side to provide the former Real Madrid star with the desired confidence.

"I don’t think the winter break is a big factor", Cazorla explained to his club’s official site.

"The truth is every player has a little dip at some point in the season, it’s very difficult to always be on top form.

"The problem Mesut [Ozil] has is when he’s on form everyone can play off him and when his form drops a bit, he is missed.

"You have to make him feel appreciated and give him the confidence he needs, he’s a key player for us and let’s hope that he gets back on form.

"We all have great confidence in him."

Ozil has thus far scored five goals and provided 12 assists in 29 appearances in all competitions for Arsenal.
