Arsenal midfielder Mikel Arteta believes there were a “lot of positives” to take home despite his side drawing 0-0 with Manchester United last night.

The Gunners, who were beaten 5-1 by Liverpool at the weekend, were desperate to shake off the disappointment by coming out with a positive result against the champions.

Despite Arsene Wenger’s side dominating proceedings in the second half at the Emirates Stadium and creating some decent chances, they failed to find the back of the net.

However, Arteta insisted that his side responded well following the thrashing at Anfield and feels Arsenal’s reaction was good.

The Spaniard also lauded Manchester United custodian David de Gea, whom he thinks was the Red Devils’ best player.

“We threw absolutely everything up front to try to win it and we created most of the chances and played really well in the second half – we really dominated”, Arteta told his club’s official site.

“They had one chance and we had four or five.

"We were in much better situations than them and in my opinion their goalkeeper was there best game.

“They are a very solid side, they make it hard for you and they work really hard for each other but we had some great play, we pressed really high.

“The team looked really committed after the hard result we had at Liverpool and it was a good reaction from the lads, but unfortunately we were unable to win the game.

“But we can take a lot of positives and the reaction of the team after what happened on Saturday was very good.”

Arsenal, who are second in the Premier League with 56 points from 26 games, will now turn their attention to the FA Cup, where they will face Liverpool at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday.
