Arsenal may not be the only club interested in giving talented youngster Caniggia Elva the chance at a contract, with Barcelona, Stuttgart and Benfica also on the list.

The 17-year-old, who plays for Canadian side Calgary South West, is currently on trial at Arsenal having previously spent time trying to impress Stuttgart.

His performances have kept him in the limelight at Calgary so much so that the club themselves revealed his popularity with European clubs.

"One of our own players, 1996 born Caniggia Elva, who has been with this club since 2007, has been invited to Arsenal FC for a trial beginning Tuesday", a statement read.

"Caniggia went on trial to Stuttgart Germany, where he has been offered a contract to sign when he turns 18 in July.

"Since then, there has been interest from Barcelona, Benfica, and now Arsenal."

Elva had moved to Canada from St Lucia in the Caribbean and is a naturalised citizen.

He is understood to have been called up to Canada's squad for the last Under-17 World Cup at one point, but could not play due to a delay in processing his immigration papers.
