Arsenal legend Robert Pires expects the Gunners to bounce back quickly from their 6-0 mauling against Chelsea on Saturday.

Arsene Wenger saw his side run up the white flag at Stamford Bridge in what was his 1,000th game in charge of the club, continuing a worrying trend which has seen heavy defeats to title rivals.

Indeed, Arsenal lost 6-3 to Manchester City in December and 5-1 to Liverpool in February.

The Gunners have slipped to fourth in the Premier League and next welcome Swansea to the Emirates Stadium tomorrow evening.

And Pires, who turned out for Arsenal between 2000 and 2006, is certain that his old club will respond and show their character on the pitch, led by Wenger.

"I know what he is capable of. He will lift his head up and those of his players", Pires told RMC.

"On Tuesday they have an important game, they face Swansea. They are still in the race.

"Arsenal have experienced difficult moments, they conceded six against Chelsea, but knowing a little about the group and the squad, I know that on Tuesday evening at the Emirates, they will respond", the Frenchman concluded.

Arsenal are now seven points behind Premier League leaders Chelsea and three off second-placed Liverpool.
