1.FC Nurnberg striker Josip Drmic has played down talk that a move to Arsenal in the summer is a done deal.

Germany legend Lothar Matthaus insisted that the 21-year-old's wife has been in London looking at houses and the Nurnberg man is all set to sign for Arsenal in the summer.

Matthaus told Sky Deutschland: "Drmic is linked with Arsenal.

"I know that his wife is already looking for an apartment in London. I assume that he will play for the rest of the season with 1.FC Nurnberg before Nurnberg sell him for a good profit. Destination: Arsenal."

However, Matthaus' theory has hit a roadblock, with Drmic explaining he does not have a wife, or even a girlfriend.

"I'm single at the moment", the striker explained to Bild.

"And there is no one who is looking for an apartment in London at the moment either", Drmic added.

However, the striker cannot rule out signing for Arsenal if the opportunity arises, remarking: "I don't know what's coming next. Every boy dreams of moving to Arsenal."

Nurnberg snapped Drmic up from Swiss Super League outfit FC Zurich just last year, the striker penning a four-year deal with the Franconian club.
