Former Manchester United midfielder Roy Keane has told Arsenal's players they "need a reality check" after celebrating beating Wigan Athletic 4-2 on penalties to reach the FA Cup final.

Championship side Wigan competed strongly with Arsenal throughout and even took the lead in the game when Per Mertesacker gave away a penalty which Jordi Gomez scored just after the hour mark.

The German made amends by heading Arsenal level in the 82nd minute, but the Gunners could find no winner even in the remainder of normal time or extra time.

They did triumph on penalties however, leading to wild celebrations at reaching the FA Cup final, combined with a blast from Keane, who was involved in fierce battles with Arsenal in the 2000s for the Premier League title.

"These Arsenal players need a reality check", he told ITV.

"Last season they celebrated finishing fourth at Newcastle, now they celebrate beating a Championship side on penalties", Keane continued.

"We are talking about Arsenal FC here. It's about winning trophies."
