Arsenal full-back Kieran Gibbs has saluted his side's character after they came back from 1-0 down to take Championship side Wigan to extra time and then penalties at Wembley in their FA Cup semi-final.

After 120 minutes the scores were locked level at 1-1, with penalties needed to decide who would advice to the final. And it was Arsenal who came through, running out winners 4-2.

Gibbs was brought into the fray as a replacement for Nacho Monreal, who picked up an injury in the game.

The left-back feels the Gunners showed real character to win the contest, believing they could have done the business before the penalty shootout, such was their dominance.
