Highly-rated Brazil winger Bernard has cooled talk of a switch to the English Premier League by revealing that no clubs from the league have made contact with him over a transfer.

Bernard was chased strongly by Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur last summer, but at the end of a twisting and turning transfer saga, opted to swap Atletico Mineiro for Ukrainian giants Shakhtar Donetsk.

The political situation in the Ukraine though has thrown Bernard's future at the club into doubt.

Russia has already annexed the Crimea and now the eastern regions of the Ukraine are a source of deep unrest, with some sections of the population calling for a referendum on joining Russia.

Donetsk, where Bernard is based, has been the subject of disturbances and it had been suggested that the winger could opt to move elsewhere, with England top of his list. No so though, says the winger.

"In Donetsk, the situation is normal; we can train and prepare quietly for games", Bernard told Globoesporte, when asked.

"There hasn't been any contact with English clubs.

"Nobody is thinking of moving to the Premier League", he concluded.
