Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger insists his side have taken a real step forward this season despite slipping well out of Premier League title contention in recent months.

For much of the campaign the Gunners were in the mix to win the title, as well as continuing to compete in the Champions League.

However, they have since returned to a familiar scenario of battling for fourth place in the league, as well as crashing out of the Champions League at the Round of 16 stage.

But Wenger insists Arsenal have, by any measure, improved this term.

At a press conference this morning, Wenger said: "We have moved forward this season, we were 17 or 18 times top of the league."

And he is determined that the Gunners will continue to battle hard throughout the remainder of the campaign.

"We want to come out of the season and think we have given absolutely everything", the Frenchman said.
