Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has explained that his side want more than a top four finish next season, following their convincing 3-0 win over Newcastle United last night.

Goals from Laurent Koscielny, Mesut Ozil and Olivier Giroud helped the Gunners to consolidate fourth spot with 73 points from 36 games, four points ahead of fifth-placed Everton.

Arsenal now need just a win from their final two league fixtures to guarantee themselves a fourth place finish.

And Wenger, who feels injuries to a number of his key players at crucial junctures of the season has seriously hampered his side’s championship hope, believes Arsenal have the potential to do better in the 2014/15 campaign.

“One more win will be top four for sure”, the Frenchman told his club’s official site.

“It will show that the club has been consistent over the years, but we want more. Overall this season I think we have been 17 times top of the league, but at the crucial period of the season we have lost many players.

“We have got to the FA Cup final having played against Liverpool, Everton, Tottenham and in the Champions League we went out against Bayern with 10 men.

“We have shown we have potential, but we want more next season and hopefully we can do it. But first let's finish this season.”

Arsenal will next play West Bromwich Albion in the Premier League on Sunday before facing Norwich City a week later.

The Emirates Stadium outfit also have an FA Cup final against Hull City to look forward to on 17th May.
