Bayern Munich CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has confirmed that Mario Mandzukic wants to say with the Bavarians beyond this summer.

Mandzukic’s future with Bayern Munich has been the subject of intense speculation since news broke that Robert Lewandowski will join the Bavarians in the summer once his contract with Borussia Dortmund expires.

"In a recent conversation Mario told me he wants to stay. Then everything is solved and I'm happy for us because Mario has always been a priority”, the 58-year-old told Kicker.

The former Inter Milan striker admits that no contract talks have taken place with the Croatian, but has refused to rule out any future moves from the Bavarians for a contract extension for Mandzukic.

“We have not talked about the contract but we have also not ruled out an extension. He has no reason to leave Bayern Munich.”

It was recently claimed that Mandzukic’s agent Ivan Cvjetkovic was in London to talk with the representatives of Arsenal and Chelsea. Italian champions Juventus are also lining up a bid for the Croatian international this summer.

Mandzukic has made 45 appearances for Bayern Munich this season, scoring 25 goals and providing ten assists.
