Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is prepared to hand Iker Casillas a contract to keep him at the Emirates Stadium until he is 38 years old, if he agrees to make the move from Real Madrid this summer.

Wenger is a firm admirer of the 33-year-old Spain international and following the departures of goalkeepers Lukasz Fabianski and Emiliano Viviano, wants to bring in a world-class shot-stopper.

News of Arsenal's interest in Casillas was leaked by midfielder Santi Cazorla in April, the Spaniard saying: "Lots of clubs want him, including Arsenal, but I think that it would be very difficult to leave Real Madrid because of what the club represents."

Now, according to Spanish daily El Economista, Wenger has let it be known he is prepared to hand Casillas a five-year contract worth €10m per year if he agrees to leave Real Madrid for Arsenal.

Casillas has hesitated over leaving Los Blancos, however following a season of playing understudy to Diego Lopez in La Liga games, could have a change of heart.

He recently saw his performance for Spain in La Roja's 5-1 defeat to the Netherlands at the World Cup harshly criticised, with a limited amount of first team football widely blamed.

Casillas has won 155 caps for his country to date since making his debut in 2000.
