Bordeaux have made an approach to sign Marouane Chamakh, sounding out the striker's advisors over a return to his former club.

Chamakh is out of contract with Premier League outfit Crystal Palace and Bordeaux coach Willy Sagnol believes his addition would add a cutting edge to the Ligue 1 side for 2014/15.

To that end Chamakh's advisors have been contacted and a proposal put forward, according to French daily Le Parisien.

However, Bordeaux's chances of signing Chamakh may rest on whether he can find another club in the Premier League.

The 30-year-old, who scored just six goals in 34 Premier League appearances for Palace last season, is known to want to remain in the English top flight.

However, following underwhelming spells at Arsenal, West Ham and Crystal Palace, it remains to be seen if any Premier League side will offer Chamakh a contract.

Chamakah played for Bordeaux between 2000 and 2010, before joining Arsenal.
