Bayern Munich have asked Sami Khedira to see out his contract at Real Madrid and join them next summer on a free transfer, according to Madrid-based daily Marca.

Khedira has only one year left on his deal with Los Blancos, having so far failed to agree an extension at the Bernabeu, and it is widely believed that the club are looking to offload the midfielder this summer to realise a fee for his services.

Real Madrid signed Toni Kroos from Bayern Munich earlier this month as part of a midfield overhaul at the club, while James Rodriguez also arrived from Monaco. And Khedira is a man on the chopping block as Los Blancos bid to recoup funds.

Arsenal have been strongly linked with moving for the Germany international, though the Gunners have been unwilling to meet his wage demands.

However, Bayern Munich are ready to throw a spanner in Arsenal’s plans and have contacted the midfielder over a move to Germany.

The Bavarians have asked the 27-year-old to play out his contract with Real Madrid and join them next summer on a free transfer, following its expiry.

The German champions are ready to increase his pay package and offer a hefty signing-on bonus once he joins the club.

However, losing the German for free next summer is something Real Madrid are not ready to contemplate.
