Atletico Madrid defender Toby Alderweireld is at the centre of an unfolding transfer battle, with no less than four clubs keen on the former Ajax star.

Alderweireld moved to Atletico Madrid last summer from Ajax, but struggled to cement a spot in the side over the course of the 2013/14 campaign.

Los Rojiblancos coach Diego Simeone is prepared to cash in on the centre-back after just 12 months and Alderweireld will not be short of options to relocate.

According to Madrid-based daily Marca, the Belgium international is wanted by Arsenal, West Ham, Southampton and Monaco.

The battle for Alderweireld's signature is now set to heat up as the end of the transfer window approaches, while Atletico Madrid may also want time to sign a replacement.
