Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has confirmed that he is not going to allow Costa Rican striker Joel Campbell leave this summer.

Campbell, who spent last season on loan at Olympiacos, is back at the Gunners after a good World Cup with Costa Rica, where he helped his country reach the quarter-finals.

It emerged yesterday that Benfica are set to test Arsenal's resolve on Campbell with a bid of €10m before the window shuts.

However, with Olivier Giroud’s injury it is unlikely that Wenger will allow one of his attacking options to leave this summer.

And the Frenchman reiterated the point and said he is aware that there have been enquiries for the young attacker but he is not going anywhere.

"We've had lots of enquiries and turned them down”, the Arsenal manger was quoted as saying by ITV.

“There have been plenty of clubs interested, but I don't know how many.

"Once I say to my assistant he won't go out on loan, even if people ask about him, my assistant doesn't even tell me.

“When I say no it's no.”

It remains to be seen whether Wenger makes a last ditch effort to sign a forward in the last 48 hours of the summer transfer window.
