Sevilla president Jose Castro has told Arsenal they will not succeed if they launch a late bid to sign striker Carlos Bacca.

The Gunners, who are on the lookout for a new striker, have been linked with making a €16m bid for the Colombian hitman, who hit 21 goals in all competitions for Sevilla last term.

But Castro is not prepared to entertain selling Bacca to Arsenal and today, when asked about the Gunners' interest in the striker, made his position crystal clear.

"[We] will not listen to offers for Bacca", Castro said at the presentation of new signing Timothee Kolodziejczak.

Sevilla also ruled out making any further signings before the transfer window shuts, despite having lost defender Federico Fazio to Tottenham Hotspur.

Bacca was snapped up by Sevilla from Belgian outfit Club Brugge last year, drafted in to replace Alvaro Negredo, who was sold to Manchester City.

Arsenal may now have to turn their attention elsewhere.
