Goalkeeper Craig Gordon has revealed he enjoys the pressure of playing for a title-chasing club such as Celtic, in comparison with scrapping for survival in the Premier League at former side Sunderland.

Gordon moved to Sunderland from Hearts in 2007 in a big-money switch. However, he struggled for form and fitness throughout his time at the Stadium of Light, managing just 95 appearances in all competitions over five seasons.

The custodian headed to Celtic this summer and, with Fraser Forster sold to Southampton, has been entrusted with the spot between the sticks at the club.

Gordon, who knows Celtic are expected to win the Scottish Premiership, hugely prefers the experience to that of scrapping for survival in England's top flight.

"I enjoy the pressure at Celtic. It’s a bigger responsibility, a great club with great traditions", the custodian told a press conference.

"There are no games that you can take a rest in. You have to go out and win every game. I have thoroughly enjoyed that side.

"It’s a different mentality to the English Premier League, trying to get 30 points and a few draws. It’s a total change and it’s much more enjoyable", Gordon added.

The 31-year-old penned a two-year deal with Celtic upon signing in the summer.
