Weighing into the Lionel Messi versus Cristiano Ronaldo debate, Arsenal legend Thierry Henry has revealed he feels that the Argentine is better than the Portuguese.
Messi and Ronaldo have enjoyed an unprecedented hegemony over the FIFA Ballon d’Or award, given to the best player every year. No player apart from the duo has laid hands on the prestigious gong since 2007. The Argentina national team captain has won it four times whereas the Portuguese captain has won three times.
They have continued their heroics in the current season, with Ronaldo having notched 38 goals in all competitions to Messi’s 37.
Henry had a three-season stint at Barcelona from 2007 until 2010, and having watched Messi at close quarters he believes that the diminutive forward is better than Ronaldo.
“So, while huge respect goes to Ronaldo, having played with Messi and shared extraordinary moments with him, both in victory and defeat, it has to be Leo”, Henry was quoted as saying by Marca.

However, he commended both players for the way they have kept playing at an extraordinary level year after year with no decline in their prolific scoring rates.
“It's one thing to have a single great season, but to maintain it for so many years is something else.
“I don't think we fully realise just what these guys are achieving.”
Henry, who scored 228 goals during his stint with Arsenal, an all-time club record, announced his retirement from football in December last year.
