Nacho Monreal admits that Arsenal’s attacking style of play does put extra pressure on their defence, but stressed that they have enough experienced players to maintain the balance in their team.

Arsene Wenger has a plethora of attacking options to choose from and with the likes of Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil at his disposal, the Frenchman’s side are never accused of playing dour football.

However, Arsenal have come in for criticism for their all out attacking displays that have sometimes left big gaps at the back and teams have punished the Gunners for their lackadaisical defending that has led to them dropping points this season.

Monreal admits that the composition of their squad dictates their style of play and with the amount of creative talents they posses, Arsenal’s attacking instincts are natural.

However, the Spaniard conceded that sometimes their natural attacking play does put pressure on the defence, who has been accused of some poor defending this season.

But Monreal feels that they have enough experienced players in the squad to provide balance and form a base on which the creative players can express themselves freely.

“In the end any team is determined by the quality of players it has”, Monreal told UEFA.

“And in attack we have world-class players like Mesut Ozil, Santi Cazorla, Olivier Giroud and Theo Walcott. We are an attacking team because we have the means to play like that.

“But that means we have to be well-organised in defence, when we have a lot of people attacking.

“We have a lot of experienced players as well, most of us play for our national teams, and that makes us a pretty complete team.”
