Danny Welbeck feels Arsenal didn’t react well after conceding the first goal to Monaco and admits that they are now facing an uphill task to qualify for the quarter-finals of the Champions League.
Goals from Geoffrey Kondogbia, Dimitar Berbatov and Yannick Ferreira-Carrasco condemned Arsenal to a 3-1 defeat at the Emirates last night in the first leg of their Champions League last 16 tie against Monaco.
Though Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain did score one goal, Arsenal are aware that they are now up against it in the tie and need to score three goals away from home against a side who have one of the best defensive records in the competition.
Welbeck feels Arsenal’s reaction to going down against the Ligue 1 side was not good enough and admits that at Champions League level they should have scored more goals from the chances that they created last night.
The Arsenal forward is aware of the gravity of the situation they find themselves in and admits that Monaco are in the driver’s seat to qualify for the quarter-finals of the Champions League.
