Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has praised his side for the resilience they showed in their win over Queens Park Rangers last night.

The Gunners suffered an inexplicable 3-1 loss to Monaco in the first round of their Champions League round of 16 tie at the Emirates Stadium last month, following which they have bounced back strongly in the league, winning their last two matches.

After their 2-0 over Everton on Sunday, Wenger’s men travelled to Loftus Road to face Chris Ramsey’s QPR. Second-half strikes from Olivier Giroud and Alexis Sanchez put the Gunners 2-0 ahead, Charlie Austin pulled one back for the hosts in the 82nd minute, but it proved to be too little too late as the visitors collected all three points following a 2-1 win.

Wenger feels that the hosts played a very physical game, especially in the first half, which demanded the north Londoners be resilient and focused to get the win. And his side proved up to the task.

“The first half was very physical and we needed to be resilient and focused on winning the fight”, the manager told Arsenal Player.

“We had to be patient, focus on our game and get the ball down and play.

“Slowly we did that in the last 15 minutes of the first half.”

He further added that his side had the game under their firm control in the second half, dictating the tempo of the game and playing to their strengths.

The Frenchman insisted that the Gunners’ win was well deserved.

“The second half we controlled very well and played very well.

“I felt that our game was fluent, quick, sharp.

“Overall it’s a great win and a deserved one.”
